Email sent Saturday, Feb. 27thThis has been quite an eventful day. At 4 o'clock this morning, David woke me to say he was having difficulty breathing. You see how wise & marvelous God is. Because my mom had this same thing Thanksgiving last year, I knew I had to get David to the hospital ASAP. I figured I could get him to St. Luke's faster than calling 911 and waiting for the ambulance to find us in the dark. However, when I got to ER and David was stablized, the staff at ER said I should have called 911 because the ambulance could have immediately given David oxygen, etc. So let that be a lesson to all of us.
ER immediately gave him oxygen. His blood pressure was extremely high, so they gave him an injection to bring that down quickly as well as an injection to get rid of the fluids. Because David has a transplanted kidney, this takes much longer than with my mom. I figured they would want to keep him in the hospital for at least 24 hours, but because the fluids are so slow in leaving the body, they may need to keep him there for a few days because they do not want to release him until all fluids are gone. Thank God that David's kidney doctor happened to be in the hospital, so he dropped by.
Please pray that the fluids leave David's body ASAP. He is scheduled to speak at a conference next weekend in New York !!
Thanks,
Margie
P.S. Please feel free to pass on this info to other prayer partners.

Thanks for all your prayers, emails & phone cards. David has improved tremendously, but there is still liquid in his lungs. The heart has also suffered some "stretching" and David's kidney doctor would like to see that completely healed before releasing him from the hospital. Thus, the NY trip (leadership training) has been cancelled. The best cardiologist available will see David tomorrow, and we will go from there. Please continue to pray for more improvement in the extraction of fluids. Lots of visitors from church today and they are amazed at how well David looks.
